NHRC Chapter News Update July 2020

I hope you all have a great July 4th Holiday Week and that you had an opportunity to take some time off or have schedule time off to recharge for the last half of 2020!

As our unprecedented times continue and now many of you are focused on getting employees back to work at the office;  developing COVID-19 Return to Work Policies and updating or reinventing your diversity and inclusion programs.  NHRC is to here to support you.

On August 5, 2020 we are hosting a Round Table featuring Wes Becton who’s presentation explores the subject of race from a leadership perspective. By the end of the presentation, each person will have the opportunity to evaluate why they believe what they believe and how they want to use this new information going forward.  The presentation gives the participants tools to begin the process of exploration about the topic of race and other controversial topics that often limit people in the workplace.  When there is a void of information people fill that void with their own version of the story which usually is not favorable to the organization.  The presentation also ties back to their organizational values as well as their own policies related to interactions between employees as well as interactions with their customers.  We also touch on the limits of authority and responsibility that leaders have to enforce standards and define the organization's culture.

New SHRM Recertification PDC Option – Earn Recertification PDCs for COVID-19 Work 

Once again, I want to thank you for your ongoing support of SHRM as together we build better workplaces for a better world. Your contributions are particularly significant as we face this era of COVID-19 and the transforming realities of our work as HR leaders.

Many HR professionals like you, have dedicated uncountable hours supporting their organizations’ and communities’ COVID-19 needs, and SHRM would like to acknowledge this difficult, ground-breaking work. To that end, SHRM has introduced a new recertification PDC option related to COVID-19, and we are relying on you to get the word out to your communities.

SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP credential holders who are working toward recertification can now earn all 60 PDCs for their work in this area. To take advantage of this opportunity, all they need to do is summarize their activities using this COVID-19 Response Summary Form and follow the instructions to redeem the credits.

Please note that one of the requirements for earning credits is that certificants must attend at least one chapter or state council COVID-19-specific program and document it on the summary form. In support of this requirement, please make sure you have provided an activity code for all the chapter or state council’s COVID-19-related programming.
