NHRC Chapter News Update - May 2020

To: ALL NHRC Members
From: Phil Perez-Vaughan, NHRC Chapter President

Our unprecedented times continue and we are faced with crafting new sick policies, developing COVID-19  protocols; COVID-19 Return to Work checklists; keeping employees engaged; re-boarding furloughed employees; employee screening procedures;  and the list goes on and on.  We will ever get back to a normal way of work????

On May 6, 2020 we hosted a Round Table on Strategies to Continue Engaging and Motivating Employees During These Unprecedented Times One of the key takeaways I walked away with was – this our time to STEP UP our game.  What are you doing to STEP UP your game?

NHRC will continue to offer impactful Round Tables via ZOOM during the months of June and July.

Upcoming Round Table Sessions:

Our Program Directors, Katie Dykstra and Denise DeLisle have lined up our June and July  Round Table Sessions.

  • June 10th Round Table Subject Matter Expert is Ron Godier.  His presentation, titled "Talent in the Time of COVID" will examine how the talent acquisition processes might never be the same now that candidates and companies have been forced to adapt to a new paradigm.

  • July’s Round Table Subject Matter Expert is Kim Brown.  Kim specializes in human connection, innovation and inclusion. She will facilitate a discussion on how to drive inclusion and innovation with a remote workforce. She believes there's a huge ROI with a remote workforce.  July date TBD.

  • Both Sessions will be held from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m.

  • Please note that there is no cost to you to attend these Round Tables.

  • To register please click on the meeting title on our Calendar of Events.

Legislative Resources:

Earlier this month the Illinois Department of Human Rights released a model of their new Sexual Harassment Prevention Training Program for Illinois employers in compliance with Public Act 101-0221 (commonly referred to as the Workplace Transparency Act).

Employers must either develop their own sexual harassment prevention training program that equals or exceeds the minimum standards for sexual harassment prevention training outlined in Section 2-109(B) of the Illinois Human Rights Act (IHRA), or they may use the model training provided by the IDHR. https://www2.illinois.gov/dhr/Training/Pages/State-of-Illinois-Sexual-Harassment-Prevention-Training-Model.aspx
