 Letter from the President...
|
As spring arrives with longer days and more daylight to help accomplish those projects that I tend to put off until this time of the year, I remind myself that there are only so many hours to accomplish everything. There are also occasions when not everything will be accomplished – especially within the time that I have allotted. While I strive to balance full time work, graduate school, family, and NHRC, I wonder how others handle their work/life balance and what options companies offer to address this growing challenge with their workforce. I discussed this topic with various people who have been in my shoes and agree that without the support of my supervisor and company, family, and the NHRC Board (including Renee!) my journey would be much more difficult and possibly not accomplished. How many of you or your employees are pulled in different directions with Work/Life Balance issues? We all know employees who struggle from time to time to achieve a good balance. Join me at the June 9th NHRC General Meeting where Kyra Cavanaugh, a nationally recognized expert in this field and President and Founder of Life Meets Work, defines Work/Life Balance and discusses ways companies can improve this balance and make a positive impact on the business. (Some of you may remember and attended Kyra’s presentation on flexible work arrangements during the 2010 NHRC Forum.) See you at our meetings!
